Scholastic Bowl
Offered to students in Grades 5-8
Mrs. Ellen Yedinak
Scholastic Bowl is a competitive academic bowl where teams of five students from different schools compete against each other. The teams answer questions on a variety of topics, including history, literature, science, math, and more. The team that answers the most questions correctly wins. Regular season contests are held from February - April each year followed by IESA Regionals, Sectionals, and State contests in May.
Speech Team
Offered to students in Grades 5-8

Speech Team involves presentation of memorized material by one, two, or several students in a group or improvisation by two students. Practices are typically held during the lunch hour. Students will perform before a judge at the IESA Speech Contest in November.
Student Council
Offered to students in Grades 5-8
Mrs. Anne Corrigan
St. Mary's School has an established at-large Student Council. The Student Council gives students experience in student government. Officers are elected annually and positions include President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Recording Secretary.
The Student Council sponsors a variety of spiritual, educational, and social events throughout the school year. The representatives of the council plan a year of activities to enhance student life at St. Mary’s School. They also participate in leadership activities offered through the Illinois Association of Junior High Student Councils.
